FIRST Steps for BABIES© and PreSTEPS Model® Training

This training is a prerequisite to the other trainings.

Description

This training is a 2 or 2 ½ day (16 or 20 hours, virtual or in-person) foundational training using the FIRST Steps for BABIES© approach.

The BABI provides a comprehensive view of the adaptive functioning of the newborn and young infant.

Fragile Infant Feeding Institute

FIFI is a four and a half day intensive study of feeding and nutrition for infants with special needs.

Description

The interprofessional institute focuses on hospital and community feeding practices and encourages close interaction between the faculty and participants.

M(OTHERS)

A workshop that teaches providers how to support the executive function and mental health of caregivers who are raising medically fragile babies.

Description

This program teaches providers concrete strategies across 8 domains to enhance mental health and decrease stress in the caregivers with whom they work.

Our faculty is comprised of NIDCAP trainers and NIDCAP Professionals who are experienced in the challenges of implementation in NICUs and who come from a variety of disciplines including OT, PT, Speech, Parenting high risk babies, Nursing, Neurophysiology and Psychology. Thus, our faculty is well versed in the complexities of how to work as a team and how to implement neuroprotective strategies from a variety of perspectives.

FIRST Steps for BABIES© and PreSTEPS Model® of training

This training is a prerequisite to other trainings

The FIRST Steps for BABIES© is a two-day or 2 ½ day (16 or 20 hours, virtual or in-person) foundational training which provides both a framework for interdisciplinary early intervention and for health care professionals to learn about the foundations of newborn and young infant development through the The FIRST Steps for BABIES© approach. Additionally, participants will learn about the progression of the caregiver-infant relationship as the infant develops using the PreSTEPS Model®.

This training is a prerequisite to the other trainings programs. This foundational training is the first step in the learning program for interdisciplinary early intervention and health care professionals. Please consider joining our Learning Collaborative!
